The only concrete statement about UtoUto is physicality and presence. Sincere and real presence in the moment of life, now and here, through artistic interpretation. We create (participatory) performances with a strong emphasis on physical theatre methods and dance, conversely we also produce pieces with naturalistic dialogs and interactions. More info about UtoUto performances the tab REPERTOIRE.
Mostly we are based in Helsinki, Finland, but let’s not put any limits.
One of the ways we work is through HelTetris – an open platform involving the participants of different backgrounds. Because art belongs to everyone! About HelTetris Theatre Group and its coming and past performances – in the tab HelTetris.
Anna is a physical theatre practitioner with a passion for dance and movement arts. She started as an actor at her local drama school when she was ten and is still on that same journey, endlessly searching, exploring and playing.
Anna has studied and worked in England, India and Nepal and is now in Finland focusing her time on directing UtoUto’s creative work, leading workshops, studying butoh and telling stories through the body.
Throughout the years, Katia has been dancing and learning dance techniques, especially modern and contemporary dance. During her Japanese language and culture studies, she got inspired with traditional and modern Japanese performing art styles – like noh theatre and butoh dance. As a performer and art manager, Katia started her journey as early as at the age of 9, staging theatre shows in a local community. She is curious in mixing different movement techniques, like, for example, martial arts and ballet, which might possibly bring to some unexpected results.
